quick recap on the background of each era in my infographic.

When planning out the display of my infographic I obviously had to see how I was going to link them together. Before linking them I looked up and found characteristics to put as a sort of social background of the time, giving the timeline a bit more historical information. Like this it also gave a better visual as to why I was linking these blogs together. I looked at the things happening at the time such as architecture, car designs, war, the effect religion was having on the time, social welfare and so on. With the link of this social background one can see better the influence in the designs of the artists I chose.

In Art Nouveau I chose a model of a car which was influenced by this era. It is noticeable in the curves of the design of this coupe. I also showed an art piece which shows its influence with the female figure, curves and vibrant colours. To finish it off I also put also put in an element of architecture. Its influence is shown in the typography on the subway instalment/canopy.

During De Stijl and Constructivism, seeing that they took place very close to eachother they had very similar backgrounds and elements. Those being war, which played a big part in many of the works you see of that period, not only in graphic design but also architecture and art. Designers made use of a lot of geometric shapes in anything they created ranging from houses to posters.

In psychadelia we notice the abundance in use of drugs at the time, mostly LSD and weed.  The way they saw things when they were high and intoxicated is shown very well in the outcomes of their work and designs. There is a lot of vibrant colours, swirls,  with curvilinear calligraphy inspired from Art Nouveau, which make up their work, as though seeing it through intoxication (tripping). This psychadelic movement did not only have an effect on art but also fashion, music, language and social behaviour.

When grunge art was taking place, at the time there was a big revolution in fashion and especially music. Women and men both had long hair, a lot of leather was warn. Grunge artists as the time were forming their own music. A popular band at the time was nirvana, getting their music played not only on the radio but also on TV stations such as MTV, making grunge people hit the roof with excitement and happiness because music they liked was finally being played on air.  This was a period in time where record companies seized the opportunities forming as much bands and music as they could, spreading from city to city.
